Ok, so Captain Hook may not be on the banks of Lake Ontario this weekend (or will he?). But, there will be plenty of other pirates invading our area as the annual Pirates Festival takes over Olcott Beach. If you haven’t attended this event, you and your family are in for a great time.
On Friday, July 12, the festival kicks off with some great pirate-themed rides, food, music and terrific entertainment that will go on until midnight. The fun continues on Saturday with the third annual wnycruiser.com Pirate Festival Car Show, which is held in Krull Park from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. A portion of the proceeds to benefit the Olcott Fire Dept. Awards will be handed out for the top show cars and music provided by DJ the Dee Jay. There will be 50/50 raffles and (even better) free admission for spectators.
At noon, the traditional pirates parade officially gets Saturday going. It features pirate-ship parade floats and entertainers who throw bead necklaces into the crowd. Come in your best pirate garb and join in on the fun.
Don’t have a car to show off? Take the family over to the Olcott Beach Carousel Park on Saturday and Sunday for
the Family Magic Puppet Show by Janice Spagnola’s Family Magic Puppet show. It will take place live on stage at the Tom Kelley Rustic Theater at 2:00 p.m.
Gather your crew and sail to Olcott Beach this weekend. It can be a pirate’s life… at least for a few days!
