“There’s no place like home for the holidays. For no matter how far away you roam -When you long for the sunshine of a friendly gaze… For the holidays – you can’t beat home, sweet home!”
Whether you have visited Newfane and Olcott Beach once or have been here your whole life, there is so much to offer. During the holidays, those offerings are even more plentiful. Need a memorable gift? Looking for a great place to take a photo? We have it… and much more!
Here are a few ways you can enjoy our area and enjoy our Season’s Greetings.
Niagara Wine Trail- The weekend of Dec. 13-15, the trail has its Holiday Happening. Aside from great wine, you can celebrate this holiday season by collecting a different ornament at each winery on the trail. This year’s ornament theme is the Nutcracker Ballet.
The Living Nativity– Grace Bible Church puts guests through a memorable and touching thirty-minute experience of a guided walk through the Christmas story and beyond. While-you-wait activities include Christmas music, coffee, hot cocoa & cookies, and the kid’s corner with crafts. It takes place Dec. 13 and 15 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Cafora’s Pizza and Pasteria– On Dec. 17, this Newfane staple will have its annual Dinner with Santa. Families can bring their kids for a great photo with “St. Nick.”
Shoppe on Main– This Main Street in Newfane staple is well-known for outstanding, one-of-a-kind gifts. Want to give the gift of warmth? The Shoppe has hand knit and crocheted gloves, scarves, hats, socks, pieced quilts, and alpaca socks. Send your holiday greetings with hand made cards, mini water colors, and books written by local authors. Want to get something for that special pet? They have cat, dog, and horse treats and toys, too.
The Blue Lady– This old, Greek Revival building that once was Olcott’s general store. Open from Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., you will find antiques, vintage furnishings, folk art, handmade dried florals & wreaths, jewelry, handmade soap, greeting cards, and other unique gifts.
Need a great place to take a photo? Try these spots.
Main Street in Newfane, dusk. The street is lined with holiday spirit. Festive lights, huge Christmas tree. And new this year, the Gazebo with lights and a sign that says “SEASONS GREETINGS.” Not a bad spot for a future Christmas card.
Olcott Beach, Gazebo near Carousel Park. For the last few years, Olcott Beach has had its own beautiful display. It’s a perfect background for the season and for those that remember days of winter’s past.
